I’ve only experienced the last two things on the first list, but out of the blue this came to my heart and by no means am I poet and yet I feel like this was very poetic. Its the beautiful me from which I write:

• I was told I wouldn’t be successful
• I was told not to speak unless spoken to
• I was told I would not amount to anything
• I was told I have to alter things to be beautiful
• I was told I looked deformed
• I was made to feel less than I am through abuse
• I was made to feel unworthy
• I was made to feel like having a voice was a crime
• I was made to feel like expressing myself was unacceptable

But the beautiful me says:

• I was born to be successful
• I was born to be invaluable
• I am worthy
• I can do it!
• I will persevere
• I am unique and special and I’m okay with that
• I have a voice
• I have the right and power to express myself

I am beautiful inside and out. Its how God sees me and its how I see me.
